Assignment # 5

Wikis can be very useful in classroom settings. I would use my wiki as a way to student to do activities for class. I would post video related to topics discussed in lessons . I also think wikis are a good way for students to submit work and access their assignments.

Assignment 5

I believe wiki's could be very useful in a classroom. If I were to use a wiki in my classroom, I would use it for the students to turn in assignments, and also to set up groups for group projects. I would also use it to put all of the content needed and of a lesson on the wiki. I believe a wiki will definitely come in handy in my classroom.

Assignment 5

I think wikis are a useful resource in the classroom. Teachers can set up wiki pages for the students to access and submit their work on. I think this will come in handy in the future when I have my own classroom.

Assignment 5

I think Wikis could be a useful resource in classrooms because it is easy for teachers to put all the content for a lesson on one page and make it easily accessible during class. It would make it easier to look at videos and pictures because they would all be in one place and linked exactly where you need to go. I do not think it would be as useful to students as a blog but that's just my opinion.

Wikis

If I were a teacher I would assign the students to create a wiki in lieu of a traditional research paper. The wiki could still have the same basic ingredients as the research paper, including stating a thesis, however the student would be able to attach videos, pictures, and other files and links in addition to the thesis-supporting text. This would create a more dynamic, interactive research project and would probably be more enjoyable for the student.

Assignment 5

I think that wikis are a very useful tool for teachers to use and that it is a good way for the students and teachers to interact outside of the classroom. I think that wikis are a great way to post assignments and other information that might be needed for the class to know. I believe that wikis are very different and can be a fun way for the students to learn and keep up with important information. I think that wikis should be used in the classrooms.

Wiki's in the classroom - Assignment 5

I think are many useful ways to include the wiki in the classroom. I really like the idea of having a classroom wiki to use for assignments, and allow for students to have discussion pages to help each other with the assignments. I would also like to have a wiki for the parents of my classroom. I think that it would allow for better communication with most parents. They could also have a discussion page to talk discuss the classroom. It would also be great for parties, being an elementary school teacher and certain party/fun activities it would be a great way to divide out the items need for each party.

Assignment 5

I think Wikis could be an very useful tool teachers and students because it would give teachers the opportunity to interact with students in many different ways. Teachers would be able to help his/her students with assignments and homework ouside of the classroom. Wikis are also a very tool useful tool when it comes to having students doing interactive activities in class, through giving instructions, posting resources, and discussing problems they may have. Wikis should be a part of every teacher's instructional tools to help further the education of the students.

Assignment 6

The website I used was funbrain and I played a game called math popper. I actually played the game with my two younger sisters. They are 6 and 10 years old and they were both familiar with the website and the game because it was something they did at school. The 10 year actually did better than me. She could do the calculations faster and so she advanced levels faster. Even the 6 year old made it to level 6. I liked that the game taught them how to do the calculations in their head and to do them quickly. I think having that ability is valuable and its good they are learning at a young age.

Assignment 6

The game site that I visited was the FunBrain website. I found a math game that used baseball for the game. It gave you a choice of doing addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, or all of the above. I didn't really like the game because all that the game was, was entering the solution to the problem, there wasn't really a game part to it.

Assignment 6

I did my software evaluation on the game Oregon Trail. I think this game can be useful in the education settings. I played this game when I was in 5th grade. It keeps the children entertained. At the same time, it teaches them a little on history as far as traveling the trail. It also teaches them survival. Throughout the game, as a player, you must keep the other players and the oxen alive. This is done by hunting for food supply, a good amount of rest, and avoiding illnesses. Many things can be learned by children through this game.

Assignment 5

Wikis could be very useful in the classroom setting. They may not be as useful for younger students, but they could really be good for high school students to use. If a teacher wanted to post videos or links for the students, using a wiki would be a great outlet for that. Teachers could also put their lesson plans on their wikis so that parents would be able to see what their students are doing in class each day.

Assignment 5, Ashley Betters

I think wikis would be a good thing to use in my classroom. Something I see myself using wikis a lot for would be for class projects. They are a good way for members of a group to communicate with each other when they are not in class. I could also use a wiki for when students needed help on homework or are confused about assignments. They could help each other that way.

Assignment 6

The software I did my evaluation on was Reader Rabbit Learn to Read with Phonics. I think this game is really good because it makes reading and phonics fun for early childhood. It also has printable activities that can be used in the classroom. It can also easily be tied into a lesson plan. I remember playing Reader Rabbit games when I was younger. I had so much fun that I didnt really notice that I was learning until afterwards hours of playing. lol

Assignment 6

The site that i visited was www.funbrain.com. It had many different types of games. I played in the math arcade. I think that it was a great site for any students in grades K-8 to practice their math skills. It has different games that you can play in the math arcade so the students will not get bored playing the same game. I think that it is a great tool for students to use though.

The bottom post is for Assignment 6: Adam Epperson.
I didnt put a label on it.
The site I visited was coolmath4kids.com. Its a great site for kids just beginning their math education. However, it is not only limited to beginners. The age group for this site is from 4-13 years old, so grade 2-7. Its a useful tool for teachers to have available for their class. Its kinda fun too!

Assignment 6 Oliver Caudell

I found my new favorite resource site. www.seriweb.com is a collection of websites that will give you very much information on how to deal with situations in special education. Giving examples and basically faqs for everything from legal aspects to dealing with your child with A.D.D.

Assignment 6

I found this really great and useful website - http://www.nasa.gov/audience/forstudents/k-4/index.html It provides a section that is strictly for students. They have activities for students K-12. It also provides a section for teachers. It has lessons plans where it shows the activity, explains any activity, as well as provides assessments with the answers. This website is a great choice if you are planning on teaching a lesson dealing space and travel.

Assignment 6 George Patterson

In my resource evaluation I evaluated Action Fractions on Funschool.com because after playing the game a few times I could see it was an excellent way to learn how to add fractions. This game gives you the opportunity to be involved in a car race that is determined by how fast you can answer fraction problems. So this game makes you have to be able to work efficiently and effectively to win. I believe by having students interacting with the this game it could help them work on being able to know how to do fractions very quickly and correctly.

Assignment 6: resource evaluation blog

The resource evaluation I did was for the Oregon Trail software. I picked this historical software game because I am a social science education major and because it was so much fun to play in elementary school during classes. I believe it is a good game because it allows the students to make decisions in groups and letting them learn history at the same time. Students should be given the opportunity to learn a little history on their own or at least the realities of it, and I think that's what the Oregon Trail allows students to do.

Ashley Betters, Assignment 6

I evaluated a software program called Music Ace. Its purpose is to help students learn how to read and play music. I liked this game because the students do not need any musical background to play it. One negative thing about this game is that the directions were not always clear. However I would still use this program in my classroom.

Winston Bradley assignment 6

I found a game on the BBC website called "Gladiator: Dressed to Kill". You test your knowledge of Roman gladiator clothing and weapons by outfitting particular gladiators and then sending them to fight in the Colosseum. The success of your gladiator is determined by how accurately you have outfitted the warrior according to historical descriptions. The site does offer good comparisons between the various styles of gladiators, however the game itself is not very entertaining. The url is: http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ancient/romans/launch_gms_gladiator.shtml

Haley Morris Assignment 6

I reviewed a game called Food Force which is sponsored by the United Nations World Food Program. This game teaches students about hunger in the world and how the use of math, science, nutrition and vocabulary can help end world hunger. I recommend this game and the WFP site to everyone. There are many links and great activities for the classroom.

Assignment 6

I did my review on Reader Rabbit which is for kids from the age of toddler to 9 years old. The website had little information and was more for sales and promotion. I also could not find a demo I could play for free, only links to buy the game at amazon.com. I do know from experience though that this game is fun and educational, I just wish their website could be as well.

I scored the highest in the social learning style. I agree with this because I find it easier to learn when I discuss information with my peers, or one on one with an instructor. I love working with people.

Assignment 3

My results to the styles are visual, 7; aural, 14; verbal, 4; physical, 6; logical, 2; social, 9; and solitary, 4. I believe these results are somewhat accurate because I do use visual, aural, physical, and social more than verbal, logical, and solitary. I believe the results for visual, aural, physical, and social should be higher to the number 20 than they are.

The Learning Style Inventory results are described in the following. My highest scores were in aural, social, logical, and physical. Aural is the auditory-musical-rhythmic style. Some pursuits that use the aural style are playing, conducting, or composing music. Social personalities include counseling, teaching, training and coaching, sales, politics, human resources, and others. People with a strong logical style are likely to follow such pursuits as the sciences, mathematics, accounting, detective work, law, and computer programming. The physical personality indicates that you use your body and sense of touch to learn about the world around me. I agree with the results for the most part. I believe this also shows I have chosen the right career for myself.

Assignment 3

I started with the Myers-Briggs test. It was a test to determine my personality traits. After answering the four questions, my results revealed ESFP, which meant extraverted, sensing, feeling, and perceiving. According to the results, my personality is one that is “pragmatic and realistic with a zest for living life to the fullest by way of multiplying experiences.” It also describes how people who are sensing are very attune to their environment. They always enjoy having a good time, and will not allow for things to become too quiet. The feeling traits include team players and project leaders. They have a gift for rallying their team members as well. They believe in harmony, and focus on others. They know people from all walks of life. They try to find ways to correct things, in doing so they look for the most gracious way no matter how uncomfortable the situation could be.

I couldn’t agree with these results more. It was almost creepy reading the results because each one described me perfectly. It was also weird being that exact based only on a series of 4 question. The test is completely accurate. I am the person who knows people from everywhere, and every aspect of life. I always try to keep harmony in my life and in my relationships with others. And I absolutely can’t stand for things to get dull and quiet. I will always do whatever it takes to liven things up.

assignment 3

My personality test told me that
  • Plan many of the details in advance before moving into action.

  • Focus on task-related action; complete meaningful segments before moving on.

  • Work best and avoid stress when able to keep ahead of deadlines.

these were all true, pretty cool stuff.. i do think that if people would use more tests like these and actually incorporated the results into their lifestyle, anyone would do better in life

I don't agree with social being the learning style I use the most. I hate group work and prefer online classes to attending class. I tend to view others as incompetent and get annoyed when people ask questions in class and hold everyone up. I like to do things my way and at my own pace (quickly) when it comes to learning. I learn best through memorization, logical thinking, and visualization.

Assignment 3

Here is my results from the Learning Styles Test:

Learning Styles Test:
This test stresses that I am a social, aural, and physical person. I do agree with this portion of the test. I love socializing when it is appropriate and I work out often. What I do not agree with is that the test said my weakness was logic. I consider myself logical as well as verbal. This test gave somewhat similar results in which it called out the feelings and perception of what I most portray.

Assignment 3

On the learning styles inventory my scores were: visual=6, social=14, physical=4, aural=5, verbal=11, solitary=6, and logical=7. For the most part these results are accurate. I would consider myself a social learner because I like to figure things out with people and work together in groups. I would have thought that my visual score would have been higher because I learn well when I can see things and see how they work.

Assignment 1

Assignment 3

For the learning style inventory, my three highest scores were in Aural, Social and Solitary. I found this interesting considering I have both Social and Solitary. I think Aural is most correctly matched because I identify with music daily. To me, these quizzes were quite fun. : )

Assignment 3

For the Learning Styles Inventory test I received an score of: visual=10, social=16, physical=10, aural=12, verbal=7, solitary=11, and logical=13. From this I believe that the learning styles inventory test is accurate with how I see myself. Also, I agree with these results because when I study I like to study in an group doing hands on practice and listening to others ideas about the material.

Assignment 1b

Hey, my name is Whitney Jeffus. I am a sophomore and am majoring in elementary education. My opinion on technology is I think that it is very helpful especially for people in the education field. There are many different ways that technology could be used in the education field. Powerpoints could be used in the classroom as well as blogs for assignments and posts on the class. Assignments could also be sent through e-mails. Videos can be used to give examples, and the internet could be used as a resource and for discussions. The internet has many uses, and I believe it is very useful for teachers and students.

Assignment 1b

Hello
My name is Tim Button, I am a senior majoring in Healthcare Management. Technology is an essential part of education. Entering a new job, whatever job that may be I must be able to knowingly be educated in certain technologies. Not learning or not being able to learn new technology, I would be a huge step behind my competition. In education I would have the ability to be more organized and technical, therefore be able to portray my excellence in technology to others.

I was surprised that I scored lowest on the visual style because I have good spacial recognition and enjoy studying maps.

Assignment 3

Dominant Introverted Sensing ISTJ What is it like?By Danielle Poirier www.RebelEagle.com © copyright Rebel Eagle Productions

Dependable, reliable and trustworthy, they like to belong to solid organisations that are reasonable in their ambitions and loyal to their employees. They feel useful when their roles and responsibilities are clearly established and they can monitor their activities and productivity in tangible ways. They tend to be rather modest, traditional and conventional, to like sensible clothing, to be thrifty, careful and wise with both money and possessions.
Once they accept a project, they will see it to the end. They manage their time well and are realistic about how much time and resources will be needed.
They tend to like to stay in one neighbourhood, often choosing to live close to where they were themselves raised. They are often involved with volunteer organisations and have a developed sense of citizenship and accountability. When they purchase something, it is after careful consideration; rarely will they buy something without having a known need or use for it. They may keep possessions for a lifetime and treasure those that were given to them.
They tend to have a good memory for specific facts that are necessary in their day-to-day life at work and at home. They accumulate facts and details to orient themselves, relying on repeated experiences that have been proven trustworthy. A fact once experienced may be the product of circumstance and happenstance; it is not in and of itself reliable. When an introverted sensing type hears an idea, they rummage through reams of archived facts to find an experience that provides information for the relevance and realism of an idea. When an introverted sensing type utters, "It's never been done!" they are saying that no information about the relevance or usefulness of the idea is available to them. They tend to shy away from surprises and what is perceived as unnecessary change.

I think that my results for this test were very accurate. I am an introverted person but I like to be in charge of things. I also like to use past experiences to help to determine the probable outcome of a situation. I do not always manage my time well, but I am realistic about how much time and resources I need to put into something.

Assignment 1b

Hey. I'm Randi Simmons. I am a Junior majoring in Elementary Education. I think that technology is a good thing and that we benifit from it in many ways. I think that I can use technology many ways in my classroom. I want my students to know many things about technology and I want them to able to use all the different technologies. But I do think that it is a very important part of our lives.

Assignment 3

http://www.personalitypathways.com/type_inventory.html

My Myers-Briggs personality type test resulted in the four personality type letter of I, S, F, and P. The text concluded I was an introvert that understood by sensing, made choices by feeling, and perceived the outside world. I think I am an introvert for the most part but I do tend to act out first and then think about what I have done. However, I find as I get older I tend to think first before acting. I also completely agree with the sensing over intuitive category as I tend to use common sense to fix problems that are in the present era, but I do think sometimes on how to fix future problems before they even occur. Thinking critically on how to pre-emptively solve conflict is something I tend to do a lot of. I also like to know facts or details when I am 100% sure of them, if the information is not clear I will normally not attempt to answer a question or offer input to a conversation. I am not sure about the category that said I make choices based on feelings. I do tend to think of others thoughts and feelings when making decision but sometimes that is not always the case. The test said “disharmony was toxic” to me but I can handle conflict very well and often act as a mediator. The last category on how I perceive the outside world by perceiving instead of judging was something I was really not sure of, I do tend to move without a plan and make plans up as I go along, but I also like to have some sort of general plan in the back of my mind at all times. I feel I am very flexible to my environment and can adapt quickly to cope with it even though it may be against my wishes

http://www.learning-styles-online.com/inventory/results.asp

The results for the learning styles test was harder to evaluate as it did not give an explanation for each style as the personality type test did. My styles scores were a 5 for visual, 11 social, 5 physical, 16 aural, 10 verbal, 12 solitary, and 5 logical. I knew my aural would be very high as I am prone to learning and listening to all auditory sounds. I use listening to help me because my eye-sight is not very good. This is proven as I got a 5 for visual. I did not agree with 11 for social because I got a 12 for solitary. However the more I think about it I am about the same as far as interaction with others and spending time on my own. I have a high verbal score of 10 which I believe is a result of constant history and English classes so I do agree with that.

Assignment 1b

Hey! My name is Bethany Adkins. I am a Senior at the University of Alabama majoring in Collaborative Special Education. Technology can be used in education in many ways. I plan on implementing technology into my classroom when I become a teacher. One way I might do this would be to have a class website that the parents, as well as the students, can access. The website would consist of assignments, classroom activities, field trips, calendar, etc. The most important aspect of technology in education is communcation. Today, lack of communcation in education can become a barrier. I would use technology to make sure this was not a problem in my classroom.

Assignment 1B

Hi! My name is Christina Jackson and I am a Junior majoring in Elementary Education. I think that it is very important that we as future teachers learn to use all the technology that is available to us. More and more technology is becoming available for the classrooms and teachers need to know hos to utilize it effectively.

Blog Use

Blogs are a very useful tool for teachers to utalize in the classroom. My opinion is that it allows teachers to ineract with their students on a new level. When a student views a blog from a teacher, they can look at assignments, check alternate links, keep informed and in contact, and a lot of other useful information. Using blog for assignments could help elliminate all the confusion that comes from a classroom. Maybe a student didnt quiet here the assignment assigned and is confused on what to do. Blogs is an easy and efficient way to avoid problems like this.
~ACE~

Blog Use

I think that Blogs are a useful tool for teachers to uses. The teachers used their blogs to close the gap between school and home. Parents were able to go look at their student's teacher blog and see what they had learned and what was planned for the future. I like how some of the teachers posted homework assignments on their blog, this way students who are absent could keep up with their lesson. This gave me ideas on how I would like to use blogs in my classroom.

Blog Use

I think the blogs these teachers are using are very helpful. They are using these blogs to help their students understand and really grasp what they are learning about. Some of them were not even about the subjects they were learning in school, they were about life lessons, which are just as important. I think this is something that I would like to use in my classroom someday. It helps the students not only communicate better with the teacher but with each other as well.

Blog Use

Each of the teachers used their own blog in a different way. One teacher used blogs for assignments for the students to do. One blog was used keep students and teachers posted about what is going on with the school, and another about what was going on each day in a particular classroom. One blog was used to tell about a letter then students had written and also where an assignment was posted. The last teacher used her blog to post information about English such as grammer and writing, and also a book list. Each of these blogs could all contribute to help think of ideas on what a person would want to blog about as a teacher, and also help to decide how to set up and arrange a blog.

blog use

Blogs can be used in math for experimental probabilities and predictions. By creating bar charts you can calculate percentages and also solve equations. You can also solve seintific equations and can post news events. It can also help you present conference presentations.

Blog Use

Blogs can be used in many different ways by teachers. One way a 7th grade math teacher used his/her blog was to put math problems on the website. This would enable students to view problems and work on them from home. This could also be used for the parents to help their children if the children are having problems in math. The parents could go over the problems at home. A 3rd grade teacher used the blogs to tell about daily activities in the classroom. The teacher also included some of the students' work on her website. This could be useful for parents to view. Another blog was one where the students submitted their opinions. The students told what they did at school that day. They also told what they enjoyed and did not enjoy. The students could read each others comments. This would also be useful for the teacher to see how the students view what is taking place. The teachers could use this to spark the children's interest more by seeing their likes and dislikes. All of these blogs can be very useful to the teachers, parents, and students in some way.

Blog Use

The blogs are being used in some cases as forums for students to discuss their daily activities as well as sound off on assignments and topics. In other cases the teachers are using the blogs as an extension of the classroom by posting review and supplemental materials, including links to other blogs. If I were an educator I would certainly create a blog for use in posting daily reviews of class materials in addition to posting supplemental materials and links to pertinent websites.

Blog Use

Educators use blogs for many things. Some use them as homework tools for students to create their own math problems like in the article "7th grade math", while others will use them as a diary of the events in the classroom, all accesible to parents. In the Clem 2005 blog, supporters could give money to certain organizations that the bloggers chose. Mrs. Huff's English class uses blogs to send out helpful information to classes and shows new books to try etc.
These examples are definitely helpful in creating some new ideas for students and their parents. It would be easy to get any information i needed to a parent, especially in Special Education when so much parental help is needed.

Blog Use

It was interesting to see the different ways teachers choose to use the blogs. Some were more for parents to follow and some were strictly for the kids to use. It a good way for teachers and parents to communicate about assignments and events in the classroom. It is also a good way for the students to talk about events like the kids who blogged about their field day. It keeps students and parents more involved in what's going on in the classroom.

"Blog Use"

These blogs show us many different ways to use blogs, such as, posting assignments on these blogs for students to do at home or at the beginning of class. They can also be used to keep student parents informed of what their kids are learning and activities they are involved in. Blog are also great for sporting events, showing who got what prizes or place and how the over all team is doing. Through blogs you can post resources that will be beneficiary to your students, whether this is grammar tools, dictionary, explanations for math problem, and so on. Blog are an excellent way to keep in touch with your students and parents, with also providing unlimited amounts of resources.

Blog Use

In the examples, the teachers and students are making you part of their classroom. I really liked the examples I saw in the blogs I viewed today. I thought it was a great way to make your student's parents and families a part of your classroom without them actually being there. One thing I want to do when I teach is to do a blog, I think it is a great way to connect with your student's families. You could also include important information like field trips, test coming up, important dates for your parents to know about and have a resource for them to returned to throughout the school year. This would be a way for parents to see what their children are doing in the classroom, like the artwork one teacher had posted. It would also be a way for children, parents, and teachers to have a better line of communication.

Blog Use

Teachers are using blogs to post assignments, announcements, simple comments, and even their day to day activities. The examples definitely gave me some examples of how I can use a blog as a teacher. I plan to use a blog to post links to helpful resources for both my students and their parents and to post announcements about important information that others should know. I can see how this type of technology is great for the environment because of using less paper and at times blogging seems to be more convenient and is an easy way to communicate with others.

Blog Use

In the examples, blogs were being used in multiple ways. Some were using the blog like we are using it (having students post on a class blog). Others used it to post assignments or to share information about what is going on in the class. I think it would be useful to use a blog as a way to share information with parents(communication with parents/families is very important). Another way a blog could be used is to post homework assignments. Also a blog could be used for students to post their reflections from the days activities. I think a blog is a great way to connect and share information with many people all at once.

Blog Use

The blogs are being used in many ways. Some of the teachers were posting math problems and asking students to answer them in comment form, other teachers would just post about the things they did that such as field trips they took and things they did for people, another teacher had a whole blog with lots of links for english students to look at, and another teacher used it to tell and show what her students where doing. These examples did give me a lot of ideas I could use for my future classroom. The blogs showed me I could use it for almost anything;I think I would use my blog more in a social way of getting information out there for the parents to see all the information they need, because sometimes little kids seem to lose things before they get home. I also might use it as an assingment sheet incase the students forget to write something down they could login on their blog and get the information they need.

Blog Use

I think that blogs are a helpful tool for teachers to use. The blogs are a good way to be organized and for students to see what is going on in the school and classroom. I think that blogs can help me when I start teaching to stay organized and to help inform the students in what is going on.

Blog Use

The math teacher's daily assignments were put on a blog from which his students could contribute and he could include examples for them to work on. Taking the daily objective of each math skill and applying it on a blog is a great idea to get the students involved with technology and getting the lesson done at the same time.

Mrs. Myrmel's classroom blog was directed at informing the student's parents on what their children are doing each day. I really like this approach to use blogging in education because it allows parents to become involved in their children's studies with the click of a mouse.

The Everts' Times blog was interesting because it allows parents/educators to view the students' thoughts on their schoolwork and activities. This is a great use of a blog to allow students' to express themselves and perhaps find out what is and isn't working in classroom strategies.
The Clem 2005 blog was much like the Everts' Times blog, in that it allowed students
to voice their opinions or ideas on a subject that could be viewed by everyone.

To be honest. Mrs. Huff's English class blog was a bit confusing to locate all the material and what it meant because of the page layout. But it included outside sources and information students could use in their reports or work that could help them and also posted weekly reminders of the classes' agenda so it was easy for the students to keep up with what was going on.

Ideas I would use from these blogs would include letting parents access the blog to see what the class was currently working on and also letting students communicate and express their own ideas and opinions on a subject because I would like to know how well my students are understanding the material and generally how they feel about it.

Blog Use

Some blogs that educators are using are set up for the students and others are set up for parents. Another teacher set up a blog for her students to post entries describing their days at school. Other teachers made blogs available for students to share their ideas with others. One blog has many links the students can take to other sites where they can practice their vocabulary. I think using a blog could be very a very useful tool for educators. Many students may have trouble finding sites that help them learn vocabulary and having their teacher post links on a blog may make it easier for them to gain access and to learn. Also, students whose classwork is displayed on a blog are able to show their parents their work. Blogs are useful for being in touch with parents.

Blog Use

Each teacher used the blog differently. It seemed like it was based on preference. One teacher, pretty much the students in control of the whole blog. They were writing about their day, as like a journal entry. Other teachers used it as a message board to let students, other teachers, parents, know what their students were doing in class, even how they were performing. Another teacher used it as a way to give assignments, and for students to communicate.
Theses examples show a variety of ways I can incorporate blogging in my classroom. I think it would be nice to have two different blogs though. One that I could use specifically with my students- assignments, communication. The other I could use with parents as well as other faculty, a way for parents to keep up with what exactly is going on the classroom and future events. I feel like it is important to have a line between the classroom and the house.

Blog Use

The blogs are either teachers keeping in touch with parents to keep them updated on what their children are doing in that class. Others are using to post assignments for the students that are also available to parents. Using the blog to post general things the students could use for reference in the class is very useful for classes such as an English class or History class. Math teachers could use blogs to post tricky math problems for "daily starters" in the class to get an idea of what her students are thinking and to get a feel of how the students are applying things in the classroom. It also allows teachers to keep blogs to let parents know exactly what the students are doing in the class so parents arent just left out in the blue wondering how they can help their child in school.

Although it has made things more high-tech and hard to learn how to use it has proven to have more pros than cons too me. I believe that using technology in a classroom will be more useful for the students. I know for me going to school to be a teacher I plan on using. I can it helping the students understand certain better because they can also login to a site they went over in class that day and view examples to help them when they are outside of the classroom. Assignment 1b

Hi,
My name is Payton Barnes. I am a junior majoring in Elementary Education.
I think technology is fascinating. It has improved our society tremendously, and I think it's going to keep improving in the future. I'm actually pretty bad with new technology and being able to use it correctly. I finally got an IPOD touch about two months ago, and I am still trying to figure everything out. It's bad.
For teachers, I think the use of technology will be very useful. It provides a quick way for communication. It also provides a way to enhance the classroom learning through interactive websites and blogging. However, I think that technology can be enforced too much and it can take away from actual teaching lectures. If students use technology for everything and rely on computers for notes and what not, what is the point of me being a teacher?
