Assignment 6

The game site that I visited was the FunBrain website. I found a math game that used baseball for the game. It gave you a choice of doing addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, or all of the above. I didn't really like the game because all that the game was, was entering the solution to the problem, there wasn't really a game part to it.

Assignment 6

I did my software evaluation on the game Oregon Trail. I think this game can be useful in the education settings. I played this game when I was in 5th grade. It keeps the children entertained. At the same time, it teaches them a little on history as far as traveling the trail. It also teaches them survival. Throughout the game, as a player, you must keep the other players and the oxen alive. This is done by hunting for food supply, a good amount of rest, and avoiding illnesses. Many things can be learned by children through this game.

Assignment 5

Wikis could be very useful in the classroom setting. They may not be as useful for younger students, but they could really be good for high school students to use. If a teacher wanted to post videos or links for the students, using a wiki would be a great outlet for that. Teachers could also put their lesson plans on their wikis so that parents would be able to see what their students are doing in class each day.

Assignment 5, Ashley Betters

I think wikis would be a good thing to use in my classroom. Something I see myself using wikis a lot for would be for class projects. They are a good way for members of a group to communicate with each other when they are not in class. I could also use a wiki for when students needed help on homework or are confused about assignments. They could help each other that way.
