I think that Amazon should have let the people that already had copies of the books on their kindle keep them, and just prevent anyone else from obtaining copies. At least they admitted that they made a mistake and are trying to correct it.

I would be mad if I had that device and all of a sudden there were two books deleated off it. I think it is wise that Amazon is changing their policy and admitting that how they handeled the situation was wrong. However, it does help knowing that they are willing to refund the money back to their customers.

I had never even thought about the possibility of losing literature in today's times, but that is a scary thing. Everyone has to watch out for Big Brother...

I think it was a good decision made by Amazon to change their policy, but I also believe that they should let the people who already had the select books on their kindle keep them. They made a mistake and they are fixing it but it isn't the customers fault, and they shouldn't be punished for Amazons mistake.

I agree and disagree with what Amazon did. I think that copyrights do need to be protected. However for those that purchased these books to read online, what do they do now? I think Amazon should refund them the money or add the book back to their collection. It does seem that Amazon is trying to fix the problem, so hopefully it will be resolved in a timely manner for everyone involved.

I think that it was wrong for them to take them away. They should have just blocked it from other people being able to get them and let the copies that were already out stay out. I do not think that it is right for them to go in there and take it away though.

I don't think Amazon should be able to sell something and then take it back, even if they do reimburse their customers. Once a consumer buy something it belongs to them and they are able to decide what to do with it. I understand that they tried to correct a mistake, but they should have let those who had already purchased the book to keep it and not allow any new purchases of it.

I feel that it was not fair to Amazon's customers to have to pay for the mistake that was made by the company. However, it is important that Amazon admitted to making the mistake and that they are trying to make the appropriate corrections. I also feel that Amazon should modify or change their policy just as they are apparently doing.

If I had purchased copies from Amazon, I would want to keep my copies. On the other hand, at least they are going to refund the money back. It shows that they are trying to be as loyal to their customers as possible. However, I do think their new policy is best.

To me, this may seem like a small deal but it really is pretty scary. I don't like the fact that my books could be "taken away," even with my purchasing them but I also don't like the fact that books are becoming electronic. It's not just the story inside of the book that is important but the whole book itself. Considering it was only two books and the company apologized, hopefully this will blow over. I personally don't think they should have taken the already printed copies, but should have just stopped printing them from then on out.

I think that Amazon published the books as a mistake. The readers should not get upset because it was a legal action. If the readers really wanted to finish the book they could buy a hard copy so noone could take it from them. As for Amazon they should be more careful in the future in putting e-books on their website. They should check with the company before hand even if the book has already been written and has a copyright.

Amazon is walking a tight rope with privacy issues as well as copyright issues. I do not have a kindle, but if I woke up and wanted to read something specific and it was gone I would be very upset. It is good that they are trying to fix these unforeseen problems.

Amazon should have "grandfathered" the books that were already bought and let the customers keep them. I understand they were just trying to cover themselves from a copyright lawsuit, but it's not the customer's fault, it's Amazon's. Amazon did a good job by trying to reimburse the customers, but they should never have the power to go in and take the copies back from the reader.

I feel like Amazon had the right to delete the book, so people could not purchase it in the future. They were out of line deleting it from personal devices though, in my opinion. I would be a little upset if that happened to me. Customers did get a refund, so they could just go buy an actual copy of the book. I feel that it is more the principle of the matter, and since Amazon has taken responsibility and are going to change it for the future, people should be accepting. Technology is constantly changing and glitches are going to happen.

I think it was wrong for Amazon to delete copies of the book from people's software if they already had before the whole incident occured. They could have just stopped it from being downloaded after that to the Kindle. I was actually thinking of purchasing a Kindle from Amazon at the beginning of the semester and its certain situations like this that change my mind. I do agree that they have admitted to their mistake and are planning to correct it but i wonder if its just blowing smoke to get the media off their back.

Apparently Amazon felt they had proper legal standing to delete the book. So what, if a bunch of consipracy theorists on the internet think Amazon's actions portend some malicious, book-burning cartel? Besides, I didn't think enough people even owned Kindles for this to matter.

I believe Amazon should have deleted the e-books off the devices because digital copies of a book should be treated the same as a phyiscal book. I also think that Amazon did the right thing by giving a refund for the copies, and I also still have confidence in Amazon and believe they will sovle this problem effectively.

I feel Amazon removing purchased media from a portable media device is a big mistake. This raises many questions about what technology can do in the near future. I feel they are taking steps in the right direction by taking preventative measures to be sure things like this do not happen in the future.
